Molokai

Papohaku, one of the longest white-sand beaches in the islands, and a slower kind of Hawaii.

Molokai gets a single guide, on Papohaku Beach Park at the island’s west end, one of the longest white-sand beaches in Hawaii. It is a quiet island compared with its neighbours, and the guide reads that way: more about space, sunsets and walking than about things to book.

Treat the water with care. The guide warns about strong currents, and on many days Papohaku is a beach for walking rather than swimming. Give it a whole day rather than squeezing it between other plans.
